I ran a test with a pretty much flat, ideal-as-possible circuit of paved road with an average grade of 0.8% over a 2.5 kilometer length. Rather than the 40KM of range like was advertised, I got 22km of range. Bear in mind, this grade is a rise of 20m over 2.5 kilometers, and this is an average with almost entirely flat surfaces and long straightaways. Under real life conditions, this would probably be much lower and I would expect 6-10km of actual range where I live and in the terrain I would actually drive it in.
In addition, the top speed wasn't totally stable, as it only got 32km/h when the battery was fully charged, and near the end of the battery, it started to go down to 25 and started dropping into the teens. However, this I will not ding it for because I did in fact see the advertised speed under ideal conditions.
My next test will be whether or not it can handle a specific hill that the G4 couldn't do, as a more realistic test of its actual usecase.
The seat design was also quite unpleasant for long rides due to its extreme width, unergonomic design and backwards angle, and the lack of a proper cruise control that I was able to find is a problem as well.
However, in spite of these issues, it definitely is a solid option and it does ride smoothly and will get you places in town in good time, and I cannot really complain about its use to bring me to work, which is its entire purpose.
