Keep Your GOTRAX Safe this Winter

Keep Your GOTRAX Safe this Winter

Electric scooters and e-bikes are great ways to commute, travel, and adventure around your city. However, when exposed to temperature extremes hot or cold it can lead to some trouble. Electronics and the cold don't mix well. That's why we are here to tell you how you can keep your e-rideable safe throughout the chilly winter months. Then, when Spring finally comes around your e-scooter or electric bike will be ready to ride full-time again.

Keep your GOTRAX is a warm, dry environment whenever it is not in use. This will protect it from the wear and tear of the elements. Additionally, it helps to avoid moisture and precipitation whenever possible. While all of our adult e-scooters and e-bikes have an IP rating of IPX4 or higher, they are not fully water-proof so be careful when riding after or during a fresh snowfall.

Public Transportation

Personal electric vehicles (PEVs), e-scooters especially, are often used for the first and last mile of a commute. Getting to and from the bus/train station has never been easier. Taking a bus or train a majority of the way keep you and your ride out of the rain, snow, and wind. Furthermore, you use less charge on your ride meaning you won't have to charge it as often.

Keep It Clean

For some days, you won't catch the train or bus on time and will have to ride your PEV for your entire commute. In worst case scenarios, a taxi can be called but we want to avoid having to spend that money. When you arrive at your destination, do your best to wipe off your ride. This is closer tied to regular maintenance. Take care of your PEV so it can take care of you.

It is important to ensure that other riders, pedestrians, and motorists can still clearly see you when you are riding. Avoid darker clothing at night and white clothing if it has or is snowing. A reflective vest is an affordable accessory that can easily be put on over any winter clothing being worn. Adding extra reflectors, reflective tape, or added lights are also available options. Be present of what is around you while you ride. Ride responsibly and respect your fellow commuters.

While it can sometimes be a hassle, it is possible to ride your PEV in the winter months. Just be sure to ride safely and don't forget to wear a helmet!
