Electric Scooters Are Coming to the GTA this Spring

Shared electric scooters are making their way to select cities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) this spring. Among the 11 cities that currently have electric scooter fleets in operation, Hamilton, Brampton, Oshawa, Ottawa and Windsor will all be receiving shared electric scooters beginning April 3rd. The company operating these e-scooters will be hosting an event at Hamilton's City Hall where attendees will be able to ride around, and get a free helmet on April 3rd at 12:30 p.m.

Roughly 1000 Bird Three e-scooters will be distributed throughout the GTA with the most being sent to Hamilton at 450. Riding and parking rules will be available on each of the city's websites. This is the important part for riders to follow so that the introduction of these micromobility machines isn't seen as a detriment but an improvement to the cities. We hope to see more riders out there and adding to the over three million trips taken across eight million kilometers. An impressive feat from just one company's effort and a welcomed one. GOTRAX loves to see further additions across Canada and the United States. It shows the growing interest in a sustainable, fast, and easy way to get around town. Electric scooters are here to stay. It is up to people to continue to utilize shared e-scooters respectfully and sharing the road and bike path. Remember to ride safe and always wear your helmet!
